Arthur Kay and The Clerks

A local band from Cologne joins forces with a legendary Londoner for a top-class ska album.

With the Clerks one of the most exciting skabands from German lands is honoring. Since its founding in 2000, the seven boys from the cathedral city have made an astonishing development. So far, there are 6 albums and 4 singles, which made an impression outside of the ska scene. For example, the not-so-off-beat Rolling Stone awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars for her album “Vagabond”, which effortlessly and stylistically wanders from Trad Ska via Klezmer and Balkanpop to Dub Reggae.

How versatile the Clerks are, they showed in the spring of 2013, when they impressed even with an acclaimed set of Studio One classics even the Jamaican producer veteran Clive Chin (Randy’s Records / 17th North Parade). Since 2014, they have performed as a backing band with the Amsterdam exceptional saxophonist Tommy Tornado (ex-Rude Rich & The High Notes) as well as the Italian singer and trombonist Mr. T-Bone (The Bluebeaters, The Uppertones) on festival and club stages in Germany and the Netherlands.

In 2016, the collaboration began with Arthur Kay, which culminates in the recordings for the album.

As of December, Arthur Kay & The Clerk’s “The Night I Came Home” will be performing live as part of the Skankin ‘Round The X-mas Tree Tour ….
