The Riots is a Russian band formed in 2009.
Heavily inspired by British culture, music and fashion, their mission is to promote mod culture through their music, both in Russia and abroad.
They achieved substantial success under their previous name; The White Trainers Community with the releases: ‘This Town’ EP, ‘The Long Play’ LP and ‘Modern Boys’ 7” single, but logistical pressures led to a premature end to a band on the verge of big things. But the boys simply couldn’t live without music and reformed with their new name and renewed energy, quickly finding an eager audience amongst a youth very disillusioned with Russian music.
All good bands have an interesting back story, and for The Riots it all started a long time before the band was formed. Three mates from Perm, an industrial city in Urals, being heavily addicted to almost everything connected with Britain, decided to go and find inspiration in London. They found what they wanted. They described coming to England as coming back home, and on their return to Russia they felt compelled to form a new band in order to realize their experience in music.
